Message from the Directors of Youth and Children Ministries

Here at Plum Grove, we see our young people as one of the most important parts of our ministry. As Directors of Children and Youth Ministries, we have programs that engage young people and help them incorporate their faith in God into their daily lives. Youth face many challenges on a daily basis. Our goal is to give them a strong sense of faith, self, and community to help them deal with all the issues they will encounter.

Our goals as a ministry are Spiritual Growth and Behavior Management. We will accomplish these goals by:

• Help youth develop a solid foundation in their relationship with Christ.
• Help youth understand what it means to really put God first.
• Help youth learn how to let the Holy Spirit guide and direct their everyday lives.
• We want every youth to be able to identify their spiritual gifts, find their place in the body of Christ, and get involved in practical ministry.
• Keep behavior problems to a minimum by developing a well-structured program and clear expectations.
• Help youth to learn and practice positive social behaviors.
• Empower youth to recognize and take responsibility for their choices, behavior, and attitudes.
• Overcome behavior problems through the use of positive reinforcement techniques.

As you can see, we want our youth to become God-fearing disciples that can boldly witness to others through knowledge of the word of God. As youth leaders, we want you to know that we are all on a journey of discovering and deepening our understanding and practice of spiritual disciplines. One thing we know for sure is that we need to be intentional and consistent with spiritual disciplines in our life. Since these are exciting times we shall learn to look at the past year and see how God has brought us through; while anticipating the year that to come and accepting the many challenges, because we know, God will be with us.
