Reverend Tyshawn Gardner is a native of Liberty, Alabama in Pickens County. Having graduated from Pickens County High School in 1989, he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy as an Interior Communications Electrician. During his tour of duty in the Navy, Reverend Gardner served in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.

He began his ministry in 1995 at First Baptist Church in Gordo, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Frank Kennedy, Jr. While serving at First Baptist Church as an Associate Minister, he led the Home Bible Study as well as Prayer Ministry.

He served as Assistant Pastor of Plum Grove Missionary Baptist for two years under the Pastorate of Reverend Walter L. Robinson, becoming Pastor in January 2003. In addition to serving as Pastor of Plum Grove Baptist Church, he is also a Human Resource Specialist at Mercedes Benz USA International in Vance, Alabama.

Reverend Gardner has studied at Bevill State Community College in Fayette, Alabama and Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama majoring in Religion.

Pastor Gardner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Stillman College. Pastor Gardner serves as Vice President of the Tuscaloosa Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance as well as on the Executive Board of S.T.O.P. a Community Development Non-profit Organization.

Sister Shonetay Gardner's loving and humble spirit can be seen at Plum Grove not only as the prayerful supporter and wife of our Pastor, but as an active and effective leader in several ministries in the church. Sister Gardner serves as our ministry leader (WINGS - Women In God's Service), teaches the primary age Sunday School class, serves on the Youth Ministry Staff, and is co-leader of our girls mentoring minstry - Godz Girlz.

Pastor and Sister Gardner live in Northport with their four children - Coretta, Tristian, Titus and Tyson.
